Located on the shores of the Pamlico River,
Washington is a waterway to the Atlantic Ocean and the I.C.W. and offers
all the amenities of a coastal community. Sailing is a popular
pastime here. You’ll find several excellent marinas catering to
the boater’s needs. The
City of Washington docks along Stewart Parkway's river walk provide
water, power, and a pump out station and restroom facilities.

Beaufort County Arts Council - provides year
round art shows and gallery displays with gift shop for purchasing
excellent local artwork. The Civic Center is
housed in the same historic train depot and is the location of many
visiting shows and events. More. Goose Creek State Park - Enjoy wandering through coastal pine forests and exploring the riverbanks to get a true feel for the natural wonder of our area. Historic Washington Walking Tour - The Moss House is at the
beginning of the tour, guides with maps for the tour are available at
the Visitors Center on Market Street. Lake Mattamuskeet - Lake Mattamuskeet, one of the most beautiful natural resources in North Carolina, is located on the way to the Outer Banks about 65 miles east of Washington. In the winter months, thousands of Tundra Swans, Canada and Snow Geese, pintails, black ducks, and mallards, as well as less numerous species of other waterfowl may be seen on the lake. Music in
the Streets - The third Friday of the month, April through
October. Enjoy a wonderful evening with your friends and neighbors in
Historic Downtown Washington. No matter what your musical taste, you
will find entertainers to delight you in this monthly musical event.
Downtown Washington comes to life, shops stay open late and the
restaurants are glad to see you. The Turnage Theater - The Turnage presents the finest in professional performing arts and entertainment in recently restored and renovated historic theater building. The ECU School of Theatre and Dance is planning to produce the ECU/Loessin Summer Theatre 2008 season in its gracious confines.

East Carolina Wildlife Arts Festival and
The North Carolina Decoy Carving Championships, presented by the
non-profit East Carolina Wildfowl Guild. The weekend long event is held the
first weekend of each February and begins with a special preview event
for sponsors and other invited guests. Activities are held a
block's walk away from The Moss House at the Washington Civic Center. |

Young Life 5K Run for
Life - Support Young Life in
Washington by participating in the annual 5K (3.1 miles) run or walk
race. The route takes you along an enjoyable route through Washington's
historic district and along the Pamlico River. |

| Race for the River Kayakalon - Kayak 1.5 miles, Bike 15 miles, Run 3.2 miles, fund raiser event to support the Pamlico Tar River Foundation, held at Goose Creek State Park. | ||||
